GAPS Project Director 

Independent Contractor Position Description

We’re seeking an independent contractor to engage the Black community and healthcare systems to reduce Black mortality rates from breast cancer.  The Project Director will foster relationships with diverse Black community networks to help organize a start-up inspired by, led by, and sustained by Black women.  The contractor will model equity principles and embrace a culture that reflects Black lived experiences.

 

The contractor will raise brand awareness and build trust and partnerships between healthcare systems and the Black community to deliver GAPS programs and events.

 

The contracted amount is $5,000 per month, beginning July 1, 2024, and ending March 30, 2025.

 

Deliverables

  • Marshall an expanding network of local organizations to deliver GAPS programs

  • Execute an organizational start-up plan

  • Support the GAPS Advisory Board and related teams

  • Reach out to potential funders with proposals to ensure long-term viability.

  • Provide admin and operations, including external and internal communications, meetings, and events.

  • Share transformational activities and results with the community.

 

Expertise

  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and networking skills

  • Track record of successful project management work

  • Self-starter able to multi-task and work in scope

  • Effective communicator able to connect with small community groups and large health systems

  • Is known to interact with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds effectively

  • Excellent verbal/written skills

  • Education or experience in Health Equity, Communication, Development, or Education.
